If you complete the bicycle safety class within the court approved time, the court will dismiss your case. This program is only available for traffic tickets issued within the jurisdiction of Torrance Superior Court Traffic Division (Tickets received in Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, etc.  Check you ticket for place to appear)

The bicycling traffic school fee is $50. You have 90 days from the day of your court visit to complete the bicycle safety class and present a class completion certificate to the Traffic Clerk at the Court.

Payment method is credit card upon registration.  If you need to pay by cash, please contact us below to make arrangements.

Once the class has been completed, attendees will receive a completion certificate that they must present to the Traffic Clerk at the Court for the ticket to be dismissed. Presentation of the completion certificate to the court must be at the 8:00 a.m. court “walk in” time, within the 90 day window.
People who register for a class but do not show up will be given the opportunity to reschedule, if within the 90 day window. Violators who do not complete the course within the 90 day window will have to either pay the full fine or attend the court appearance.
The class will last approximately 3 hours and will cover the following topics:

  • Causes of bicycle crashes
  • How to protect yourself when riding a bicycle
      • A well-maintained bicycle
      • Safe riding behavior
      • Cyclist’s responsibilities
      • Motorist’s responsibilities
      • Passive protection
  • Law & resources

The pilot program for the South Bay Bicycle Safety Class is a project spearheaded by the South Bay Bicycle Coalition to foster safer bicycling practices in the South Bay.  South Bay Bicycle Coalition is a California registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization TIN 45-5578685.
