May 9 Is National Bike To School Day | Manhattan Beach Middle School

Our 2nd Bike to School Day is Wednesday, May 9, 2018 for Manhattan Beach Middle School

After the success of last year’s Bike to School Day, The South Bay Bike Coalition and MBMS are working together with MBPD and MBFD to have another safe and successful bike to school day this May 9.

SBBC is coordinating “meet-up” spots throughout Manhattan Beach, and adult bike leaders will help escort kids along safe routes to and from school. Parents are invited to ride along!  Your kids will have fun. You’ll have fun. And you’ll be glad you helped promote exercise and fewer emissions in Manhattan Beach.

Helmets are required, and there will be some fun things for the riders when they get to school.

  • designated meetup spots where MBPD / MBFD will be helping to gather kids
  • meetup time will be 8:00 am and everyone will bike to school together at 8:15am
  • each “biking school bus” will have an assigned officer
  • please review the suggested bike route as reviewed by our Traffic Engineer

Please REGISTER your student before April 30 so we can assign your meet up spot.

Ride Leaders Needed

Please consider joining us as a ride leader and ride with the kids to school. The more the merrier! The morning session will be approx 8:15am – 9am, and the afternoon ride back to the meet-up spots will be approx 2:45 – 3:30pm.

You can register for both sessions, or either morning or afternoon.

Please contact Jay Hoeschler at jay@avidtrails.com to sign up as a ride leader.
